Cajun Serama Council Inc

The oldest Serama organization in the world, dedicated to preserving tradition and celebrating diversity

About Us

Who We Are

The Cajun Serama Council, Inc. (CSC) is the oldest Serama organization in the world, predating other North American organizations by several years. Founded by Jer Schex, the original importer of Seramas to North America, we have been at the forefront of the breed since its introduction 24 years ago with the original 135-bird import.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to preserving the original intent and authentic standards of the Serama breed in North America. Through dedication, selection, and time, we have established and recognized several breed types, promoting diversity and excellence while remaining true to traditional showing methods.

Our Commitment to Tradition

The CSC pioneered tabletop showing for Seramas—the original and authentic method of presenting these remarkable birds. We remain committed to this tradition and will continue to promote tabletop-only showing, preserving the breed's heritage and the personal interaction that makes Serama showing unique.

Back to Our Roots

In an era where standardization and conformity have begun to overshadow the breed's natural diversity, the CSC stands firm in returning to our founding principles: "for the people, by the people." We believe in celebrating the variety within the breed rather than limiting it to uniform standards.

Join Our Community

We are currently building a database of members and supporters who share our vision. There are no dues required at this time—only a desire to belong to the largest and oldest Serama organization in the world. As a federally recognized 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization, we are fully chartered with established bylaws and governance structures. Elections will be held to ensure our organization remains true to democratic principles.

The Serama Breed

Seramas are the world's smallest chickens, known for their upright posture, confident demeanor, and friendly personalities. Originating from Malaysia, these beautiful bantam birds continue to evolve and capture the hearts of poultry enthusiasts across North America and beyond.
